About us
Neighborhood Homework House (NHH) was founded in 1997 when educator Kerry Freeman and community member Janet MacDonald began tutoring a few children after school near Henry Dalton Elementary. Local families quickly joined in, opening their homes to support students with tutoring and mentoring.
Today, NHH serves students from across all Azusa schools. Currently based at Foothill Community Church, we’ll be relocating to Center Middle School in September 2025 to continue expanding our impact.

our Mission
Elevating and supporting Azusa students—together with families and community partners—to provide access to opportunities and equip them to thrive.

Our Vision
An empowered, collaborative, resilient community where every Azusa family flourishes.
WE VALUE COLLABORATION
At Neighborhood Homework House, we believe meaningful impact happens through strong partnerships. We actively collaborate with churches, schools, community organizations, government agencies, and local businesses—welcoming all who are committed to the well-being of Azusa, regardless of background or affiliation. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus, our work is guided by a deep commitment to renewal, inclusion, liberation, and justice for the marginalized.
