Our students live in "Canyon City" (Azusa's motto) but they rarely experience nature in its fullest like they did this year at camp which is located in the mountains near Lake Arrowhead. Camp allowed the space for them to discover more about themselves and their world which allowed for them to return home more confident and excited about their future.
For one student in particular, Sara*, camp signified a new beginning in her life. During her week at camp she wrestled through issues of her own self-perception due to having an absent father. Sara told our counselors that because of what she learned at camp she is starting to view herself as worthy and important despite her family struggles. Sara says, "I am hopeful for the future!"
This summer we sent 25 students to camp over the course of two weeks in July. They were accompanied by 6 counselors
