K-5 Programming
Academic
The K-5 program is designed to pair tutors in 1:1 or small-group interactions to focus on academic success. After homework completion, students focus on supplemental materials from a prescriptive workbook created to address their academic needs.
Spiritual
ONHH believes that students who learn and understand values and have a belief system will make better life decisions. For that reason, we have created "Fabulous Fridays," our character-building program in which we partner with local churches. The program enhances the students' understanding of character traits through arts, dramatic expression, physical activity, or media. We also use object lessons throughout the month to strengthen core moral values and encourage students to make better life choices at home, school, and with friends.
Social
ONHH intends for our students to leave our K-5 program exhibiting positive social skills, higher self-esteem, and a better sense of themselves. We achieve this by creating positive social interactions with other students and tutors. Our tutors serve as mentors to these students, celebrating their successes, remembering their special occasions and engaging in activities with students outside their neighborhood.
